Itinerary
Day 1 Edinburgh
or Glasgow to Pitlochry: Pick up your car and proceed via
Sterling with its' historic castle, to the resort village
of Pitlochry. Afternoon available to visit Blair Castle
in nearby Blair Atholl.
Overnight in Pitlochry.
Day 2 Pitlochry to Grantown-on-Spey: Drive
today via Braemar - made famous by Highlands Games, the
Queen's summer retreat of Balmoral Castle, and through the
Scottish Highlands to Grantown-on-Spey.
Overnight in Grantown-on-Spey.
Day 3 Grantown-on-Spey to Inverness: Today's
drive takes you north via Cawdor Castle - famous for Shakespeare's
Macbeth, and via the historic Culloden Battlefield, where
Bonnie Prince Charlie let his army against the British,
before arriving in Inverness.
Overnight in Inverness.
Day 4 Inverness: Full day available to visit
Inverness and to search for the Loch Ness monster at nearby
Loch Ness.
Overnight in Inverness.
Day 5 Inverness to Isle of Skye: Drive west
today to visit the Falls of Messach and the beautiful gardens
of Inverewe. Continue south along the coast to Kyle of Lochalsh.
Here you cross to the Isle of Skye.
Overnight in Broadford
Day 6 Isle of Skye: Full day at leisure to
visit the Isle of Skye known for its spectacular scenery
and to visit Dunvegan Castle, the famous seat of the MacLeods.
Overnightin Broadford.
Day 7 Isle of Skye to Onich: Drive east today
via the wonderful Eilean Donan Castle to Fort William, situated
on Loch Linhe at the foot of Ben Nevis.
Overnight in Fort William.
Day 8 Ft William to Glasgow or Edinburgh:
Your last day's drive takes you through Glen Coe, over the
Rannoch Moor and along the shores of Loch Lomond to either
Glasgow or Edinburgh where your tour terminates in the late
afternoon.
