Fiji Vacations - Unforgettable

Our small plane starts to descend over a green,
emerald jewel of an island resting in the northern Fijian waters. I
can spot coral reefsalong the way that dot the calm ocean landscape
from Viti Levu t oVanua Levu. The overnight flight from Denver to Los
Angeles to Fiji has been worth it. A quick 20-minute drive and we are
at our perfect island destination for a week of SCUBA, rest and tranquil
recovery from the day to day work pace.
The
Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort is nestled in a once flourishing coconut
plantation, surrounded by tropical rainforests and exotic gardens.
The 25 Fijian Style bures (bungalow) are spacious and
private, built from pacific woods with thatched roofs and are tastefully
furnished in island décor.
Large multilevel decks offer ocean or garden views, with
comfortable lounge chairs and your own hammock, perfect for that afternoon
nap. Our very own retreat within the retreat.
Regardless if you are a couple seeking romance, a family
on holiday, an adventurer or a scuba diver, this exclusive resort features
excursions and activities to satisfy everyone's vacation needs.
Discover breathtaking waterfalls, enjoy the beauty of the rainforest
on an afternoon hike, visit the local village, swim, snorkel, scuba
dive, play tennis or simply relax at the beach. The choices are unlimited.
There is an excellent program for children with individual family nannies
provided, a supervised children's activities area, and a separate children's
swimming pool.
There is a full time on site marine biologist/naturalist
to answer your questions and lead nature hikes and snorkeling trips.
Evening videos to understand what you have seen and help explain this
unique underwater world.
We choose this resort because of the PADI certified dive
operation and the reputation of Jean-Michel Cousteau, as a world famous
oceanographer and environmentalist. My husband has been diving for years;
finally I was ready to give it a try.
L'Aventure Jean-Michel Cousteau provides personal
instruction through every phase of the PADI resort and certification
process for new divers. My instructor, Ezra, was fantastic. He
was calm, patient and attentive to teaching me the skills required
to enjoy the undersea world safely. During the week I did 4 ocean
dives on a resort course basis and have since completed the required
training here in Boulder. It really is another world down at 60
feet. Colorful soft corals and tropical fish swimming by, lion
fish and eels and others that I could not name, more than I could
imagine and I loved it!
So, consider Fiji and the Jean-Michel
Cousteau Resort the next time your are looking for paradise. We loved
it and I think you will too.
